Day 3 - Wrapping up the Weekend

Our weekend is ending on a nice, peaceful note.  my mom, Nama, had stayed over and stuck around until early afternoon.  One of Katherine's friends came down to visit and was able to stop by our house and grab a couple things we had forgotten (including Amelia's all-important Amazon Fire Tablet!), and she and Katherine got some time to just sit and talk while Amelia and I visited the game room, and then came back to our room to just relax.

I think the two best parts of the day were:
1) Mommy, with me overseeing, setup and started the feeding all by herself, and then when it was finished this morning, flushed the NG tube herself as well.  This means both of us have done it on our own now, and both feel better about the process.

2) When asked about the NG tube this morning, Amelia said "It isn't as bad as I thought it would be..."  This was great to hear because she was REALLY scared about it the first day.  She wasn't sure if she could go in the shower with it, but that went fine as well, and most of the time, she acts like it isn't even there.  This is really good because the less she thinks about it, the easier our time here will be.

Overall, we just took today easy, stayed around Ronald McDonald House enjoying the art room (Nama and Amelia made cards for a few different people and I finished up the Valentine Cards for Amelia's class).  Amelia got some books from the library to read in our room, and I tried out the pin ball machine in the game room.  We are also making friends of the other kids who are here at Ronald McDonald House and go to the Kartini Clinic.  It is becoming like a little family.

Tomorrow starts "Week 1" for all of us.  Amelia got the NG tube in Friday, but tomorrow, we start the Parent Support Group, have a meeting with Amelia's supervisors, and also with the School Coordinator.  The next two weeks for Katherine and me will be all about learning what to expect, getting tools to help out along the way, and getting into a rhythm.  I am going to try to at least work remotely part of the week, and maybe even go into work on days that we don't have anything specific scheduled at the clinic.  Here is hoping that we can start to get a relatively normal, productive routine.

She was feeling much better tonight, interested in reading books.  This one is entitled "Walter the Farting Dog..."  I don't know... Katherine found it... Blame her...
