Day 13 - Meetings, Meetings, Meetings

Today was a day of meetings.  We started our day off with the Parent Toolbox meeting.  This is supposed to be designed to help the parents prepare for helping their kids through their eating disorder... but it is really geared towards helping kids with Anorexia, Bulemia, or Binge eating... What it is ACTUALLY helping us with is helping us to help Katherine with her long-time struggle with Anorexia.  It is bringing a lot of it to the surface and helping me to know better ways to help her through it.  So, we are meant to be here one way or another, whether it be to get Amelia healthy and eating again, or to help Katherine manage her demons.

Then, the meeting with the family counselor, Leslie.  The was again supposed to be about Amelia, and the family, and how the family can help Amelia.  I think it too became about Katherine and her long-held Anorexic tendencies... This is by NO means a bad thing.  Amelia is doing fine.  She is adjusting to things, and I think in a week or two, she will actually be right on track.  Katherine, on the other hand, needs my help and support as she is working through things of her own.  So, this was again, another good meeting.

Leslie DID bring Amelia into the family counseling meeting just over half way through it.  We had to immediately assure Amelia that she was NOT in trouble. She came into a room where she was sitting between her two parents, and someone else she didn't know very well was asking her if she knew why she was here...  My little legalist was SURE she was in trouble.  We assured her she wasn't and then spent the next 5-10 minutes talking to Amelia with moderate success.  Amelia is enjoying her time here, but would really like to be at home, with her friends, eating again...  All in good time, my sweet girl... All in good time.

Lastly was our meeting with Sherrill, the nurse in charge of tracking Amelia's vitals.  Her report:  Amelia's weight it going up beautifully.  She is only 2 lbs from her goal weight.  Her UA panels show excellent specific gravity meaning she is well hydrated and doing well overall.  We clarified that Amelia is NOT on what they call the "Mellow" plan.  The Mellow plan means that the child cannot be active... No walking around the mall, the zoo, etc...  They can sit and read, etc...  Luckily for Amelia, she is NOT on this and still enjoys running around with friends and playing.

Our day ended with my mother coming up to spend the night and to give us a night off.  We got out for dinner at a place called Prime Rib and Chocolate Cake... As the name would imply, it can't be bad...  It was delicious, and so nice to just have to eat and not worry about Amelia for once in a few weeks.  We were going to watch a movie, but are both wiped out from the stress and strain of the close quarters living.  We came back and are trying to just have a little bit of relaxing time with the extra hands with Amelia.

That is it for now...  It is Valentine's evening, and we are celebrating by going to be early and trying to get some sleep.  Thank you for the continued prayers and support.  We appreciate all of it as it seems every day has its ups and its downs.  We are hoping as we get into a less busy rhythm with Amelia's clinic, that maybe things will go back to a slightly easier cadence... So, prayers for a quick end to the week and rapidly getting to next week.  Also prayers for Amelia's vitals tomorrow...  We are hoping she is close to or at her goal weight...  It would be a great way to head into the weekend.  Thank you and God Bless.
